The storyline reveals that an organization of pig-like aliens called S.W.I.N.E. has taken control of the darknet; in gameplay terms, you maneuvere icons to eliminate the monsters. Swap the tiles into groups of three or more and the better you perform, the more powers and upgrades you will be able to obtain.

At heart, Grid Rangers is very similar to many other match-3 puzzle games, like 7 Wonders 2 and Cookie Blast Fever - Match 3: Sweet Baking Journey. Compared to its rivals, the main appeal of Grid Rangers lies in its overall aesthetic. The game succeeds in capturing the colorful aesthetic of its source material, depicting a world built from a pastel palette and various weird and wonderful sci-fi gadgets. The pig-like aliens themselves, which are animated on the grid, look as though they have stepped right out of an episode of Power Rangers.
